Victim injured by metal object in Fitchburg
Police say the object may have been a firearm
FITCHBURG, Wis. — Fitchburg police are investigating a weapons violation call that injured a victim Sunday night.
The Fitchburg Police Department responded to the 2900 block of King James Way around 8:15 p.m. Sunday. Officers say they found a victim who had been struck with some sort of metal object. Officers said in a release that the metal object may have been a firearm.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police said the victim described the man who hit him as a younger black male wearing black pants and a black jacket but could not provide a further description. The man then reportedly left the area in an unknown direction.
A Madison K9 team helped search the scene. No suspect has been found at this time. Officers believe the victim was specifically targeted.
The investigation is ongoing.
