Verona Students To Take Part In Choreographed ‘Flash Workout’
Students from across the U.S. will take part in a choreographed “flash workout” Tuesday, and a group of Verona middle school students are participating in the dance routine.
At about 12:30 p.m. central time, hundreds of schools around the country are taking part in the workout that aims to help curb childhood obesity.
Teaming up with first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, one middle school in every U.S. television market will take part in the dance workout.
“It’s over 600 middle schools, as well as schools in Japan, and everyone is going to be participating in this flash workout at the exact same time,” said Michelle Vetterkind, president of Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
Students at Verona’s Badger Ridge Middle School have been practicing the special dance with the moves and music by Beyonce.
“They all know the dance. They’re doing it at recess without the music, on the playground,” said Cindy Olson, associate principal at Badger Ridge Middle School.
Organizers said they hope the flash workout inspires young bodies and minds to move toward a healthier life.
