Verona Road businesses concerned about possible construction delay
FITCHBURG, Wis. — The Verona Road Business Coalition is holding its second annual meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the future of the expansion project.
The coalition was established in 2015, and it serves as an advocate group for local businesses impacted by the Verona Road Project.
The project is in its second phase of construction. Crews will work on a section between Raymond Road and Highway PD.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will give a detailed presentation on what construction plans are in place for 2017.
The Verona Road Project is slated to be complete in 2020, but it could be pushed to 2022 if Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal for a two-year transportation budget is approved.
“Our main concern is funding,” Ron Frey, owner of Touch of Class Hairstyling, said. “Hopefully, they continue to fund it. We really don’t want to see a delay at this point.”
The meeting will be held at Ten Pin Alley in Fitchburg at 5 p.m.
