Verona, Parker, Edgewood win boys golf sectionals
Field set for next week's state tournament

MADISON — Tuesday was WIAA Boys Golf Sectional tournament day, setting the field for the State Tournament at University Ridge next Monday and Tuesday.
In the Division One sectional at Edelweiss Chalet in New Glarus, Verona earned its first trip to state in boys golf as the Wildcats (296) defeated Middleton (306). The Cardinals also qualify as a team for state.
Oregon’s Ryan Candell won a playoff on the first hole to take the individual title over Verona’s Austin Gaby.
In another Division One sectional in Janesville, Janesville Parker (331) and Badger (340) will send their teams to state. Monona Grove’s Jake Schroeckenthaler is the sectional champion shooting 73.
At the Platteville Country Club in Division Two, Edgewood (305) and Edgerton (322) qualified their teams. Lakeside Lutheran’s Lukas Heckmann was the sectional champion with 72.
