Verona High School honors former student with scholarship
VERONA, Wis. — Verona High School announced a scholarship Friday in honor of former basketball standout Will Kellerman, who was killed in a car accident in November.
It is called the “Opportunity 34” scholarship, and will be awarded based on need to former basketball players. Students chosen by Verona High School will receive $5,000 over two years.
The school announced the scholarship at its basketball against Beloit Memorial. Half of the game ticket profits were donated to the fund, along with the proceeds from a T-shirt sale and 3-point contest.
The scholarship has currently raised more than $182,000.
