Verona leads Division One and Edgewood has the top spot in Division Two after the first day of the WIAA State Girls Golf Championship at University Ridge in Verona.

The Wildcats (315) have a four-shot lead on Arrowhead (319) with Middleton (320) within striking distance in third.

Individually, Middleton’s Loren Skibba had the best round of the day with a three-under par 69. Skibba had a five-shot lead on defending champion Jessica Reinecke of Verona and Homestead’s Annika Hitt.

In Division Two, Edgewood has a 15-shot lead on Fox Valley Lutheran as the Crusaders posted a score of 328.

Edgewood’s Tess Hackworthy shot 74 to take a two-shot lead on Racine St. Catherine’s Sarah Busey.

Last year’s champion, Caroline Lake, is just five shots behind her teammate after shooting 79.

The final round of the WIAA State Girls Golf Championship is Tuesday at University Ridge.
