VERONA, Wis. — Verona Area High School was named one of the best construction projects of 2020, the Associated General Contractors of America announced Wednesday.

The new school building cost $149 million and is about seven acres large.

The project’s contractor, J.H. Findorff and Son Inc., also received the Construction Risk Partners Build America Merit Award for their efforts.

The contractor built the new building, and also renovated the old building into a middle school, within a 26-month schedule.

“This year in particular, each of the nominees and winners are especially worthy of our admiration and praise,” Joe Charczenko of Construction Risk Partners said in a statement Wednesday. “Despite unprecedented circumstances, these teams demonstrated a level of commitment and perseverance that few can match.”

The new building includes a field house, aquatic center, and academic spaces for 2,200 students.
