Vera V. Schulz
MADISON-Vera V. Schulz, age 97, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at St. Mary’s Care Center. She was born on June 23, 1915, in Madison, the daughter of David and Mary (Tiedeman) Hinrichs. Vera graduated from East High School in 1933, and attended UW-Madison for two years. She studied medical technology at UW Hospital. Vera married Anthony “Tony” Schulz on Dec. 16, 1939, in Flemington, NJ. Vera was a stay-at-home mom until her sons went to school, and then she worked as a medical technician at East Madison Clinic, retiring in 1980. Vera enjoyed summer vacations at the family cabin in Minong with Tony. She was a longtime member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Women of St. Bernard’s, and the Moose Auxiliary. Vera loved dancing with Virginia Davis School of Dance; she took part in dance recitals into her 90’s.
She is survived by two sons, Bill (Diane Lillis) Schulz and Dave (Penny Reynolds) Schulz; granddaughter, Trecia (Scott) Fitzgerald; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Carson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony in 2006; two brothers, Marvin and Arthur; and four sisters, Anita, Ethel, Madeline, and Mildred.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or Dane County Humane Society. A special thank you to Chamomille II and St. Mary’s Care Center for the care given to Vera.
