Vera Mae Scott
MADISON-Vera Mae Scott, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on April 24, 1921, in Madison, the daughter of Irvin and Mae (Mahnke) Knickmeyer. Vera graduated from Madison East in 1939. She was united in marriage to Wayne W. Waska in 1940, in Madison and he preceded her in death in 1967. Vera later married Seth Scott who also preceded her in death. She was employed as a lab technician at the U.W. Biochemistry Department retiring in 1983. Vera was a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and member of Kayra. She enjoyed baking, following football, especially the Packers and Badgers, music, chocolate, her friends and her church. Mostly, Vera enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren.
Vera is survived by her three daughters, Yvonne (Dr. Joseph) Kowalski of Galena, Ohio, Janet (Paul) Smail of Palm Desert, Calif., and Nancy (John) Wiley of Middleton; seven grandchildren, Cpt. Wayne Wiley, Amy Faulkner, DeAnn Gorman, Jennifer Iceman, Julie Meshanko, Kimberly Stevens, and Dr. Paul Smail; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and infant granddaughter, Theresa Kowalski.
A Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2165 Linden Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, with Rev. Patrick Siegler presiding. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
