Vegas beats Jets 4-2 to take 2-1 series lead
Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals for the second straight game to lead the Vegas Golden Knights to a 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals Wednesday night.
The victory gives the expansion Golden Knights a 2-1 lead in the series and puts them just two games away from the Stanley Cup Final.
Vegas improved to 5-1 at home in the playoffs, which is where Friday night’s Game 4 will find them.
Marchessault is leading the Golden Knights with 17 points this postseason with eight goals and nine assists.
James Neal and Alex Tuch also scored for Vegas, while Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 shots for the win.
Mark Scheifele netted both of Winnipeg’s goals in the losing effort. The center now has a playoff-leading 14 goals in 15 postseason games.
Connor Hellebuyck had 26 saves for the Jets.
