UWPD looks for suspect, person of interest in string of campus burglaries
MADISON, Wis. — A string of burglaries where electronics and credit cards were stolen from unlocked offices is being investigated by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department, according to a release.
The burglars have been stealing items from administrative and academic buildings over the last two weeks, officials said.
UWPD has identified one of the suspects as 19-year-old Malcolm C. Owens, of Madison, through surveillance video.
UWPD is also looking for another person of interest in the burglaries. Police hope the public will be able to help identify him.
Owens has a warrant issued by the Department of Corrections for violating his probation on a previous burglary case, according to the release.
Officials ask anyone with information about the burglaries or the burglars to call 608-264-2677, or if anyone sees the suspected burglars, to call 911.
