MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin students will have an easier time transferring, after the UW System and the Wisconsin Technical College System announced a new credit transfer agreement Wednesday.

Starting Sept. 1, the two systems will identify 72 core general education credits for transfer by the 2022-23 academic year.

The agreement will allow WTCS students to potentially enter a UW system school with junior standing, and vice versa.

More courses from both systems could be added to the agreement when it is reviewed in 2023.

“This student-centered agreement will improve the quality of higher education in Wisconsin and is a win for students and our two systems,” UW System President Tommy Thompson said in a statement Wednesday. “There’s a lot we can accomplish when we work together.”
