UW thumps Miami 3-0
Badgers improve record to 6-0
MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Madison volleyball celebrated the 2014 home opener in style Friday night at the Fieldhouse. The team beat the Miami Hurricanes 25-12, 25-15, 25-19 to improve their overall record to 6-0.
The pre-match festivities outshined the match itself. The team played a montage of memorable moments from the team’s 2013 NCAA Tournament run, followed the unveiling of the 2013 National Runners-Up banner.
On the court, the Badgers opened the first set on a 4-0 run before Miami could muster a point. UW recorded 17 kills and just four errors in 32 attempts and rolled 25-11.
In the second set, the Badgers defense shined. They recorded 16 digs and three blocks to hold Miami to just nine kills. Wisconsin won the set 25-15.
In the third set, Miami actually kept it close. At one point, the Hurricanes trailed 19-17. From there, UW outscored Miami 6-2 to claim the sweep.
Up next, Wisconsin hosts Missouri State Saturday at noon. They conclude the HotelRed Invitational by facing Ball State Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
