UW-Madison takes Adidas to court
Workers not paid at Indonesian plant
MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents asked a court to decide whether Adidas has met the terms of its contract Friday.
At issue is a factory in Indonesia that makes Adidas apparel that closed without paying millions of dollars in wages and benefits to workers.
UW officials said by asking the court’s opinion, the university has the best chance of ensuring workers are paid.
Adidas is an exclusive shoe and apparel sponsor for UW-Madison’s athletic teams.
