UW fraternity suspended for two years after racial slurs incident

A University of Wisconsin-Madison fraternity has been suspended for two years and will temporarily lose all membership privileges in the Interfraternity Council amid allegations that its members yelled racial slurs and a bottle was thrown at two students earlier this year.

The punishment stems from an incident on March 16 when members of Delta Upsilon were accused of hurling the slurs at two UW students, who are African-American, as they walked on the shore of Lake Mendota near the frat house.

The women said that they were subject to the epithets and a glass bottle was thrown at them.
