UW band hasn’t received contribution promised by NFL player
Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola apologized after yelling obscenities at band
MADISON, Wis. — A band director who expects so much from his members doesn’t expect to get a dime promised in an NFL player’s apology.
It has been more than a year since Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola was caught mouthing off to University of Wisconsin band members. As part of an apology he claimed he made a significant contribution to the band.
The band’s director said they haven’t seen a cent.
Mike Leckrone’s Badger band is preparing to play at Lambeau Field again after an opposing team’s player yelled obscenities at the band last year.
“It was mostly directed at a single student,” Leckrone said.
Raiola apologized and the Lions franchise said he’d also make a significant donation to the program.
“I guess I did expect it for a while, but as the days went by the expectations grew less,” Leckrone said. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s a done deal. I think from the very beginning our approach has been this was an incident that happened, and we’re moving on and we have since moved on.”
News 3 made multiple attempts to reach out to the Detroit Lions, but we haven’t received a response from the team or Raiola.
