April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and while the month itself is nearly over there are still events over the next few days to increase public awareness and education about sexual assault. And besides, the urgency to prevent sexual assaults transcends the calendar.

While sexual assault prevention demands unblinking attention in the home, the workplace and elsewhere, assaults on our college campuses have been receiving a lot of attention recently.

There was just another report on the Madison campus on Friday. It is clearly an epidemic and it has to stop.

You’ve heard of See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Speak No Evil. The Sexual Assault Awareness Month Poster for 2015 emphasizes Look, Listen and Ask. We have to be aware of sexual assault, talk about it, and report it when we suspect it.

Dane County’s Rape Crisis Center website is a great resource. Awareness is key.
