UnityPoint Health no longer planning to merge with Sanford Health
MADISON, Wis. — UnityPoint Health announced Tuesday that it no longer has plans to merge with the South Dakota-based Sanford Health.
According to a news release, UnityPoint said it had been seriously considering the merger over the last few months but decided it will not be moving forward with the partnership.
“I’m tremendously proud of our organization and we will continue to work tirelessly to evaluate any avenue that improves the delivery of health care,” said Kevin Vermeer, president and CEO of UnityPoint Health. “Sanford is an exceptional organization with a bright future ahead. UnityPoint Health moves forward with strong roots and a fierce commitment to improving the experience of the people we serve.”
The release did not provide a particular reason for the network’s new decision.
