U.S. Bank Eve Fireworks Canceled
The fireworks are canceled Saturday for the U.S. Bank Eve celebration at the Monona Terrace, due to expected high winds.
Winds are expected to reach 30 to 40 mph, and fireworks can’t be launched with winds over 20 mph.
Lisa Clark, a spokesperson for U.S. Bank Eve, said the Madison fire inspector decided to cancel the fireworks display after seeing the weather forecast for Saturday night.
Clark said this is the first cancellation in her 13 years working on U.S. Bank Eve, an annual New Year’s Eve event in the Madison area. She said the only other time there was not a fireworks display in her time here was in 2009, when U.S. Bank decided to give the money to Porchlight instead, due to the economy.
All other events will go on as planned for U.S. Bank Eve.
