Tyyne “Toni” Elisabeth Slick
MADISON-Tyyne “Toni” Elisabeth Slick passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at age 95 years and 10 months.
Born Tyyne Torvi in Quincy, Mass., in 1918, her long, eventful life was highlighted by her service in the Navy during World War II, her marriage to Daniel Darwin Slick in Hawaii during that war, the raising of three sons, Timothy Leo, Daniel Ross, and Matthew Lincoln Slick, and her work as a Registered Nurse in the Long Island, N.Y. area for the better part of 50 years. Toni suffered the loss of her oldest son Tim, in 1964, and her husband Dan in 1986, after which she moved to Madison to be near her son, Dan.
She is survived by her sons, Dan and Matt; her grandchildren, Rose and Amanda; and great-grandchildren, Jake and Lauren.
We want to offer our deep thanks to the Madison VA Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare. They did our mother a great service by making her last days peaceful and did all in their power to honor her and everything possible to help our family through the transition.
“Mom, you’ll be missed for your acerbic sense of humor, your great spirit, and your earnest interest in community affairs.” Thanks for all you’ve given us, we’ll miss you a ton.
