Two stolen cars found in hotel parking lot, police say
MADISON, Wis. — Two stolen cars were recovered in the parking lot of a west side hotel Wednesday, according to an incident report.
According to the report, the Madison Police Department was searching for a Mercedez-Benz that was stolen from a family living on Settlers Road. Police said the owner of that car thought the thief was able to get into their house and grab the keys to the Mercedes-Benz after getting a garage door opener from the family’s other car, which was parked in the driveway at their Settlers Road home.
Police said GPS tracking led them to the parking lot of the Hampton Inn at 4820 Hayes Road, where they found two Mercedes-Benz cars, one which the MPD was tracking and another that had been reported stolen from Waukesha County.
Officers said they saw a gun belt and ammunition inside one of the cars.
