Two men charged with threatening clerks with knife
Men demanded money, cigarettes, Beloit police say
BELOIT, Wis. — Two men from Rock County are behind bars after police said they threatened two store clerks with a knife and demanded money and cigarettes.
Beloit police said the crime spree started just after midnight Monday.
Police said two men entered the Speedway convenience store on Milwaukee Road and Cranston Road, threatened the employee with a knife and demanded money and cigarettes. The employee gave the two men what they wanted and they left the building. Two employees at Walmart next door said they saw the two men leave the convenience store and get into a car that was parked in the Walmart parking lot.
Police believe tha the same two men committed a similar robbery at the Lions Quick Mart on U.S. Highway 14 just outside Janesville around 4 a.m.. Money and cigarettes were also taken from the store.
Police said the two men entered the Walgreens at Madison Road and Sun Valley Drive at 10:15 a.m. Monday, threatened an employee with a knife, and demanded and got money.
Police said members of the Beloit Police Department’s Violent Crimes Interdiction Team found a car matching the description of the one involved in the robberies, and arrested two men in connection with the case. Thomas McKee, 30, of Janesville, and Ray Trickie, 34, of Beloit, both face three counts of armed robbery.
Stolen property and other evidence were recovered from the vehicle, along with weapons used in the robberies, according to police.
