Police: Shooting stemmed from fight at party
BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Two people are recovering from their injuries after they were shot at a Brookfield hotel early Sunday morning, Brookfield police said.
In a news release, police said officers responded to a shooting at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Moorland Road around 1:30 a.m. where a party was held.
Officers found two people had been shot after a fight broke out at the party.
An 18-year-old Milwaukee woman was shot in the buttocks and is expected to be treated and released, police said. An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was shot in the abdomen and has undergone surgery.
Police have identified a suspect, who they are describing as a 19-year-old Milwaukee man. They are not naming the man at this time.
The man fled from the hotel in his vehicle, which has since been recovered, police said.
Nearly a half-dozen rounds were fired in the shooting, police said.
