It’s March already, which means it’s time to check in on those New Year’s resolutions. If 2020 is your year to try new things, here’s a list of food and drink events going on this week in case you need a little push toward some different – and delicious – experiences.
Wednesday, March 4
If you love cheese as much as we do, this hands-on Home Creamery event at Willy Street Co-op is a fun and engaging way to learn more about the making of a Wisconsin staple. Linda Conroy from Moonwise Herbs will walk you through the simple process of making cheese curds and pressed farmer cheese by hand, and registrants will leave with samples and recipes to take home. $35-$45.6-8 p.m. Click here for more information
The Passport Program is teaming up with Old Sugar Distillery for Behind the Booze, an event exclusive to Madison Passport Program holders. Meet the makers behind Old Sugar’s products and learn about the distilling process, facility and more while you enjoy a spirit flight and a 375 mL bottle of Queen Jennie Whiskey or Honey Liqueur to take home. $15. 6-8 p.m. Click here for more information

Navigating Madison’s high-profile food scene might seem intimidating with the plethora of diverse options. If you feel overwhelmed and aren’t quite sure where to start, let Madison Eats Food Tours give you a taste of some of the city’s most popular spots this Friday. Mark your calendars for the Capitol Square Downtown Tour, featuring six food stops that include pasties, specialty oils, a Wisconsin cheese tasting, Korean snacks, pizza and local ice cream. Justveggiez, a vegan and vegetarian catering service in Madison, is hosting a Plant-Based Vegan PopUp at Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center this Saturday. If you’re not sure about the whole vegan thing, Justveggiez is preparing a menu of vegan takes on comfort classics for you to try. Choose from vegan barbecue fried drumsticks, gluten-free vegan twice-baked potatoes, vegan French bread and more. Give it a taste! $15. noon-5 p.m. Click here for more information
If you’re new to the area or just haven’t had a chance to stop by Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. yet, this Saturday is the perfect introduction. Great Dane is hosting its 7th Annual Bockfest, and in addition to the 30-plus local bock beers with unlimited samples, attendees can enjoy a free Bavarian pretzel buffet or purchase other German-style bites like doner kebabs, schaschlik and beer-braised bratwurst. $40. noon-4 p.m. Click here for more information

On Monday, Madison Magazine’s very own Top Shelf Winter Taste 2020 will take place at The Edgewater.
