Trumpet company replaces stolen Army bugler’s horn with brand-new model

After a thief stole an irreplaceable trumpet from a local Army bugler, the trumpet company is gifting the man a brand new one.

On Veterans Day weekend, Staff Sgt. Matthew Miller of Sun Prairie was in Milwaukee for battle assembly when someone broke the back window of his truck and stole his trumpet that had been with him through a tour in Iraq.

The company that makes the trumpet, Getzen, heard about the stolen trumpet and gave Miller a brand new one – the 80th anniversary edition that only a few people in the world have.

“Getzen Company was extremely generous to even offer to replace my horn, let alone replace it with their newest model,” Miller said. “I am forever grateful for that.”

Miller said he has not heard about his old trumpet. His wife wrote a Facebook post after it was stolen begging for the community to keep an eye out for it, but through many offers for donations, no one has tracked down the stolen horn.
