Trump grilled by dean of Wisconsin conservative talk radio
NEW YORK — Donald Trump is tangling with the dean of Wisconsin’s conservative talk radio on Monday, enduring arguably the harshest grilling he’s faced during the campaign.
Trump, the Republican front-runner, is beginning the stretch run before the potentially crucial Wisconsin Republican primary on April 5.
Milwaukee-based radio host Charlie Sykes, an influential voice for Republicans, repeatedly challenged Trump during their 17-minute interview.
Sykes pressed the GOP front-runner to apologize to Ted Cruz’s wife, Heidi, whom the celebrity businessman mocked on Twitter last week.
Trump said he would not apologize until Ted Cruz first said he was sorry for an ad his supporters ran featuring a scantily clad photo of his wife, Melania.
Sykes has backed Cruz and belongs to the #NeverTrump movement. Trump admitted he did not know of Sykes’ opposition.
