Trump campaign files federal lawsuit against WEC, several mayors

MADISON, Wis. — In another attempt to challenge Wisconsin’s election results, President Donald Trump has filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

According to WDJT-TV, a statement from the Trump campaign accuses Wisconsin public officials of performing “unlawful and unconstitutional acts” during the election.

The lawsuit also accuses the mayors in Wisconsin’s five largest cities of installing absentee ballot drop boxes that did not have proper security protocols.

Trump’s legal team claimed the ballots could have been tampered with, though election officials reported no evidence of voter fraud.

The news comes one day after the Trump campaign filed a separate lawsuit in Wisconsin aiming to throw out tens of thousands of votes in Dane and Milwaukee counties.

The chair of the Wisconsin Elections Commission and Gov. Tony Evers both certified President-elect Joe Biden’s win earlier in the week.
