Trial for former Badgers football player charged in Janesville double homicide delayed again

JANESVILLE, Wis. — The trial for a former Badgers football player charged in a double homicide in early 2020 has been delayed until January 2023.

Marcus Randle-El was scheduled to go to trial next week related to allegations he shot and killed two women in Janesville. According to the criminal complaint filed against him, both victims were left for dead on the side of a road near the interstate.

The 36-year-old is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, one count of operating without consent while in possession of a weapon, and one count of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, according to online court records.

Prior to getting rescheduled for this summer, Randle-El’s trial was planned for early 2022.

Randle-El’s trial is now scheduled to run from Jan. 17 to Jan. 27 of next year. His final pre-trial conference is set for Jan. 6, 2023.
