Travelers coming through Wisconsin receive tasty treat
BELOIT, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Tourism treated travelers to special goodie bags at each Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center in the state on Wednesday.
Each travel center handed out 100 snack bags to the first 100 travelers who came in as a way to celebrate the department receiving its 100th award since 2011.
“It’s just to say congratulations to the department, but thank you for traveling to Wisconsin,” tourism secretary Stephanie Klett said. “We love having you here. We want you back. Enjoy Thanksgiving. It’s just really all about appreciation.”
The goodie bags were filled with snacks made at companies in Wisconsin, including dried cranberries from Cherryland’s Best in Appleton, Usinger’s sausage made in downtown Milwaukee, cheese curds from Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, a sampler bag of jelly beans from the Jelly Belly Visitor Center in Pleasant Prairie and homemade chocolates from Beernsten’s Confectionary in Manitowoc.
Klett handed out the snack bags at the Beloit Welcome Center, which she said is the busiest in the state.
“They serve hundreds of thousands of people every year,” Klett said. “And what we know is when people stop into these visitor centers, and they’re treated well and people recognize them and they let them know we’re happy you’re here, when they have an exceptional customer service, they’re coming back over and over again.”
