Travel over Thanksgiving could be complicated by storm

A storm plowing through the upper Midwest this week could cause travelers headaches as they try and get home for Thanksgiving.

Forecasters are predicting 2 to 5 inches of snow could fall in areas like La Crosse, Minneapolis and Wausau by the time the storm passes through early Thursday morning.

The most significant snow should fall Tuesday night into Wednesday north and west of Madison.

AAA is predicting the busiest Thanksgiving weekend in 9 years this week, as travelers go home for the holiday.

AAA expects 48.7 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving, which is an increase of one million travelers compared with last year. This total also represents a 1.9 percent increase over 2015.

The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is defined as Wednesday, Nov. 23, to Sunday, Nov. 27.
