Train strikes, kills teen in Walworth County
Incident occurred Tuesday morning
VILLAGE OF MUKWONAGO, Wis. — A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a freight train Tuesday morning, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department said.
Walworth County sheriff’s deputies and East Troy Fire and Rescue Units responded just after 5 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a young man being struck by a train on the Canadian National Rail Line, which runs between Interstate 43 and Hwy L in the village of Mukwonago.
First responders found a 17-year-old boy had been struck and killed by the southbound freight train, according to a Walworth County Sheriff’s Department news release.
His identification is being withheld pending notification of his family.
Walworth County sheriff’s officials said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
