Traffic backed up both ways on interstate near Janesville
State police said no one was injured but traffic was backed up for less than an hour due to a two-vehicle accident on the interstate near Janesville.
Sgt. Adrian Logan with the Wisconsin State Patrol said a pickup truck lost control on southbound Interstate 39 due to the rain and speed at about 11:53 a.m.
“That happens quite often there on that ramp,” Logan said.
The pickup spun around, struck another car going southbound on I-39 and came to rest in the median.
Both vehicles were off the roadway but emergency response vehicles blocked the left lane of both northbound and southbound I-39, backing up traffic both ways for about 40 minutes. At its worst, Logan said traffic was backed up about 2 miles.
The incident was cleared by 1 p.m.
Logan said it was unknown if either driver was wearing a seat belt. The sergeant said neither driver was injured and both refused transportation for medical evaluation.
