Town of Beloit fire truck crashes into tractor
One man taken to hospital for back pain and released
TOWN OF BELOIT, Wis. — A fire truck collided with a tractor that turned into its path on the way to a fire in the Town of Beloit on Friday.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said the chief of the town’s fire department was driving the Dodge Durango fire truck on County Highway D to a house fire on West Nye School Road Friday afternoon when he encountered a slow-moving tractor driven by a 35-year-old Orfordville man.
The tractor driver turned into the truck’s path just as Fire Chief Dennis Ahrens was attempting to pass.
Authorities said the truck’s sirens and emergency lights were operating at the time.
Ahrens was wearing his seat belt and was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for back pain and released. The tractor driver was not injured.
The fire truck was severely damaged, while the tractor sustained only minor damage.
Authorities said that no citations have been issued, but the crash remains under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
