Top-ranked West stops Verona, 4-2

Senior captain Cole Paskus scored two goals to lead Madison West over Verona, 4-2, in a Big Eight Conference boys hockey game at Madison Ice Arena Tuesday night.

Paskus scored his first goal in the first period to give the Regents a 1-0 lead, but Verona’s Sam Renlund answered with a second period goal to tie the game at 1.

The Wildcats took the lead on a rebound goal early in the third period, but then the Regents, ranked #1 in the state by Wisconsin Prep Hockey, took control.

Paskus scored to tie the game at 10:23 of the third period, then James Pretto and Mick Messner added scores to put the Regents ahead to stay.

Goaltender Henry Cutting had 19 saves for Madison West.
