Timothy Allen Daggett

Verona – Timothy Allen Daggett, 55, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 after being diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer less than three months earlier.

Tim was born May 6, 1957, the son of Stanley and Patricia (Sparks) Daggett. He grew up in Monona, graduating from Monona Grove High School in 1975. He attended University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where he met the love of his life Mary Berger. Tim and Mary married in 1981 and moved to Reedsburg, Wisconsin where they had their first son Ben in 1983. They later moved back to the Madison area, living in Fitchburg and then Verona and in 1986 their second son Peter was born.

Tim owned his own business, Direct Sign & Supply, for the last eight years, making road signs that can be found all across Wisconsin and Illinois.

Tim was a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather. His wife Mary succumbed to a long battle with cancer on January 5th earlier this year and he was still grieving her death when he was diagnosed with cancer himself. He was always there for his sons, Ben and Peter, who will forever cherish fond memories of him and the caring role he played in their lives. His grandsons, Patrick and Oliver, were a constant source of delight for Tim, who loved nothing more than playing and joking with them. The whole family will miss him greatly.

Tim lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler for over twenty years, bowling at Wildcat Lanes in Verona for over ten years. He loved golfing and never missed his annual June golf trip that began in 1985. He was an avid football fan, cheering for the Badgers, Packers, and whichever team he picked on his parlay card. He also was a die-hard Cubs fan, which is not always an easy thing to be. Tim loved the Vilas Zoo and shared his love of the zoo with his boys when they were little and more recently with his two grandsons.

Tim is survived by his mother Patricia; his brother Tom (Theresa); sister Jean (Jeff), his two sons Ben (Stevie) and Peter (Hannah); his grandsons Patrick and Oliver; nephews Curt (Ali), Ian, and Seth; his niece Cassie (Codie); and two-week old great-niece Olive. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley, his sister Sandy, and his wife of 31 years Mary.

Tim was a friend to everyone, strong, caring, and always ready for a laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the staff of Agrace Hospice who helped grant Tim his wish to spend his final days at home, the oncology staff at UW Hospital, and the UW D6/5 and F6/5 nurses.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 1-4pm with a short service at 3:30 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Dr. Verona.
