Timberwolves sign former Badger to offer sheet
Celtics have three days to match Stiemsma offer
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed restricted free agent Greg Stiemsma to an offer sheet.
The agreement made on Saturday gives the Boston Celtics three days to match the offer or let the big man go to Minnesota. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
Stiemsma averaged 2.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 13 minutes per game for the Celtics last season. Boston coach Doc Rivers loved the energy that Stiemsma brought off the bench. His stint in Boston helped him carve a niche after bouncing around Turkey, South Korea, and the NBA’s development league.
The Wolves signed Stiemsma in 2010 as a workout partner for Al Jefferson, who was recovering from a torn ACL. He also had a 10-day contract with Cleveland before catching on in Boston.
