Three Beloit City Council seats to be on the ballot for spring election
BELOIT, Wis. — The fall elections may have just wrapped up, but it’s never too early to look ahead to the next election cycle.
Voters will head back to the polls on April 4, 2023. to decide races for the State Supreme Court, State Court of Appeals, State Circuit Court, and a host of local positions.
That includes voters in Beloit. The city launched its election process for City Council on Wednesday. Three council seats will be on the ballot next spring.
Those interested in running for office can pick up an information packet beginning on Friday. Packets can be found on the 2nd-floor lobby of Beloit City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Nomination papers and forms are also available on the City’s website or by clicking here.
Candidates will be able to circulate nomination papers starting on December 1. A minimum of 100 valid signatures is required for a nomination, though city staff recommends between 100 and 200 to ensure ballot access.
All forms and nomination papers must be turned in to the City Clerk-Treasurer by 5 p.m. on January 3. Candidates are required to file appropriate forms with the clerk before forming a committee or raising any funds.
The spring election is set for April 4, and newly elected council members will take office on April 18.
