Thousands without power in Madison area
MADISON, Wis. — Thousands of residents on and around Madison’s west side have lost power due to a blown transformer Friday night.
Alliant Energy said the incident happened at the intersection of McKee Road and Highway PD.
The outage started at 9:42 p.m. and left more than 11,500 people without power. As of 11:40 p.m., that number has been brought down to about 2,000. Full power is expected to come back for everyone at around midnight.
The outages have also affected viewers in Verona and Middleton. Bruce Richards, director of facilities and engineering at Epic, said the Verona software company has also been affected by the outage.
