Thomas T. Barr
MCFARLAND-Thomas T. Barr, age 46, of McFarland, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014, after a long battle with depression.
Tom was born May 16, 1968, in Cudahy, Wisc. and moved to McFarland shortly after. He graduated from McFarland High School, and then from Northland College with high honors, with a degree in environmental studies. Tom took a job at the Timpanogos Cave National Monument in Utah. Next he took a job at the west entrance of the Yellowstone National Park and built a beautiful log home on the continental divide in Island Park, Idaho. Later Tom transferred to the U.S. Forest Service as an information specialist at Hegben Lake Ranger Station in West Yellowstone, Mont.
Tom’s hobbies included photography, long distance skiing, and racing marathons. He moved back to McFarland in December of 2013 following his mother’s death and took a job at Full Compass Systems in Middleton.
He is survived by his father, Steve Barr; his brother, Michael Barr; his sister-in-law, Kika Barr; his nephews, Brian, and Brian’s wife Melanie, and Marcus Barr; and his niece, Debora Barr. He is preceded in death by his mother, Teddi Barr; and his grandparents, Laura and Walter Barr and Virginia Forcum.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy. 51, Stoughton, at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, with the Rev. James Koza presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014.
