Thomas L. Kaufman
Thomas L. Kaufman, age 62, passed away after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
He was born on March 15, 1952, in Baraboo, the son of Dale and Joyce(Swafford) Kaufman.
Tom was a 1970 graduate of Sauk Prairie High School. On July 1, 1972, he was united in marriage to Ruth Basthemer, and together they celebrated 41 wonderful years of marriage. Tom enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, watching the Badgers and the Packers, and spending time with his family. Family was the most important thing to him especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. If you talked to him he would tell you how they made his day. He would love to sit out on his deck and enjoy the view of the Cassell Prairie where he grew up. Anyone who knew him would know his wonderful sense of humor and the love to make people laugh. His sense of humor could get him through anything. He had the most positive outlook on life which helped in the last couple of years as he continued to fight his disease. He was the best husband, dad and papa his family could ask for. He had such a loving personality and the biggest heart.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters Tina Kaufman, and Holly (Joel) Walker; grandchildren Dylan and Khloe Walker; his siblings Linda (Doug) Mabie, Jerry (Nancy) Kaufman, Mike (Cindy)Kaufman; his mother-in-law, Margaret Basthemer; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Frank Basthemer and Brother in Law David Basthemer.
