Thomas J. Arbogast
MADISON, Wis. — Thomas J. Arbogast, age 90, completed his life on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Tom was born on March 29, 1926 in Dixon, Illinois to Thomas J. and Frances E. (Ketchin) Arbogast. He grew up in Appleton, WI with two younger brothers, Jim and Peter. After graduating from Central High School in St. Paul, MN, Tom entered the U.S. Army Airforce. Upon discharge, he worked for the Kimberly Clark Corp. then enrolled in the University of Wisconsin School of Business, graduating in 1950.
Tom married Jane Ann Pulling from Appleton in 1947. They raised three children, Patricia Westimayer, Karen Tennessen, and Jon Arbogast. Tom and Jane were founding and enthusiastic active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison for 65 years.
Tom spent his working years in the building business, building, selling homes, and remodeling. He worked for Wick Homes for many years. Both Tom and Jane had their pilot’s licenses and owned a small plane for many years. Besides flying, he enjoyed, history, archeology, traveling, and visiting friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jane; three children, Patricia (Steve), Karen (Chuck), Jon; seven grandchildren, Nancy, Sara, Valerie (Kevin), Stacia (James), Jacob (Monica), Travis (Jenny) and Charlotte; nine great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Rob), Robyn (Rob), Hannah, Troy, Holly, Logan, Anne, Penelope and Gabriella; and three great-great grandchildren, Ione, Aeris and Harlyn. (His loving family will miss him.)
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 326 South Segoe Road, Madison 53705, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A reception and lunch will be held in Bradfield Hall afterwards. Please make memorial donations to the Medical Mission Endowment Fund, care of Covenant Presbyterian Church, in honor of Thomas J. Arbogast.
