Thieves target copper
Church and dry cleaner targeted
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison dry cleaning business and a church are both victims of copper theft, according to police.
Klinke Cleaners at 1295 N. Sherman Ave. called police last week after discovering several feet of copper piping had been cut from two condenser units. The copper was worth $2,500 and damage to the equipment totaled $12,000.
A maintenance worker at Trinity Lutheran Church, at 904 Winnebago St., contacted police Sept. 12 to report a stolen downspout. The church told police the downspout would likely be replaced with less expensive material.
