Thief ‘looking for cash’ at Madison hotel
Clerk locks herself in office, calls 911
MADISON, Wis. — A thief made off with an undetermined amount of cash after walking into a hotel and opening drawers behind the front desk.
Madison police were called to Homewood Suites at 479 Commerce Dr. at 11:05 p.m. Thursday after the clerk discovered the thief searching drawers.
Police said the 23-year-old clerk approached the man and asked him what he was doing. When he replied that he was “looking for cash,” the clerk locked herself in an office and called 911.
The thief eventually left. He’s described as white, in his late 40s to early 50s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, heavy set with white or gray hair. He was wearing a black jacket with a white and green striped polo shirt underneath, jeans and sneakers.
