‘That’s all it is’: Mertz focusing on consistency in everything
MADISON, Wis. — Consistency. That’s what Graham Mertz is preaching ahead of the 2022 season, but it’s not only about what happens on the field.
From eating, to stretching, to practicing, Mertz hopes that he can find consistency in everything he does.
Entering his third season as the Badgers’ starting quarterback, Mertz will be looking to imitate his Las Vegas Bowl performance where he completed 11 of his 15 passes.
Mertz’s bowl game showing was much more efficient than his usual outing. The rising junior only completed about 60% of his passes throughout all of last season, including a season-worst 18 of 41 in Week 3 against Notre Dame.
The Overland Park, Kan. native enters the 2022 season less than 900 yards away from crossing the 4,000 career passing yards mark. With consistency, he’ll have no problem reaching that milestone.
