Thanks, Fido! Barking dog alerts owners to burglar, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A west Madison couple’s pet helped thwart a burglary in the early morning hours on Wednesday, police said.
Madison police said a 29-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man who live in a condo on Waterford Circle, about 300 feet north of McKee Road, heard their dog barking at 3:46 a.m.
Upon being awakened, the man went to investigate and thought he saw a flashlight beam, according to the report. He yelled and a burglar fled.
Police said a garage door had inadvertently been left open, which provided the criminal with access to an unlocked door into the home.
