A Texas man faces at least 10 years in federal prison for trying to have sex with a child from Wisconsin and for possessing child pornography.

Robert Hosler, 28, of Austin, Texas, was found guilty in federal court on Friday of two counts of involving interstate communications and traveling to engage in illegal sexual activity.

Hosler also pleaded guilty Friday to possessing child pornography when he was arrested in Eau Claire in September 2018. According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Hosler had a cellphone with videos on it of minors engaged in sexual activity. One of the videos showed a minor who was under the age of 12.

Prossecutors said Hosler had responded to a post on the internet that involved meeting a 12-year-old child for sexual purposes. Investigators said Hosler was arrested by undercover officers after traveling to Eau Claire from Austin.

His sentencing date has not been scheduled. He is facing 10 years to life in federal prison.
