Tests: Man found in river had alcohol in system

Toxicology tests done on the body of a college student recovered from the Milwaukee River last week show his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office says Nick Wilcox had a blood alcohol level of 0.22 percent, well above Wisconsin’s 0.08 limit.

The 24-year-old University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student was pulled from the Milwaukee River on March 28, months after he disappeared while celebrating with friends on New Year’s Eve. He was last seen early in the morning on New Year’s Day.

An autopsy performed last Friday found no trauma or injury. His death was ruled an accidental drowning.
