MADISON-Terry Gudmandsen, age 68, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1948, in Milwaukee, the son of Robert J. and Ruby (Pirk) Gudmandsen. After graduating from Baraboo High School in 1966, Terry entered the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
Terry married Bonnie Krueger in March of 1971. He then attended MATC and studied accounting. Terry was employed at the State of Wisconsin from 1972 until his retirement in Feb. of 2003. Despite many health challenges following his first stroke in 2002, he made the most of his life. Terry participated in bowling, golfing, hunting, but mostly enjoyed time spent with family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie; son, Jeremy; grandchildren, Myah and J. Carl Robert; sister, Ellen (Don) Weiss; mother-in-law, Dolores Krueger; sisters-in-law, Donna (Walt) Aalto and Kim (Mike) Tomsyck; brothers-in-law, Paul (Barb) Krueger and John Myers; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Harold Krueger; and sister-in-law, Connie Myers.
Funeral services will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Dr., Madison, (with parking behind the church on Hegg Avenue) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, with the Revs. Katya Ouchakof and Stephen Marsh presiding. Military rites will immediately follow the service. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
