Teens nabbed for at least 2 dozen thefts from cars, garages
Police chief believes there are more victims
WAUNAKEE, Wis. — At least two dozen reports of thefts from cars and garages in Waunakee are connected to four Madison teens, according to Waunakee police.
Chief Kevin Plendl told News 3 thieves were spotted looking in vehicles at 1 a.m. Thursday. An officer found some of the suspicious people who led a foot chase on Kearney Way. Police said they found the vehicle the teens fled to and waited until a third person arrived before they approached the car, not knowing the extent of the thefts.
Stolen property includes wallets, money, sporting good and electronics, police said.
Plendl said he believes there are more victims, and that this case might be connected to thefts in other communities.
The four teens involved are age 16, 17, 18 and 19. One remains at large.
Plendl asks the public to keep vehicles and garages locked. He said the thieves didn’t break any windows.
