Teens found hiding in library broke into elementary school with shovel, police say
MADISON, Wis. — Two 15-year-olds were found early Wednesday morning inside a west side elementary school after officers responded to a burglary alarm, according to a release.
Officers were called just before 4 a.m. to Orchard Ridge Elementary School at 5602 Russett Road after a burglary alarm was set off when movement was detected in the teachers’ lounge, officials said.
Officers found a 15-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both of Madison, hiding in the library, according to the release.
An outside door had been pried open with a shovel, officials said.
The teens refused to answer officers’ questions, and were taken to the Juvenile Reception Center on tentative burglary charges, according to the release.
